Fanime was a total wash due to absolute makeup failure with airbrush water based paint.  But the good news is I have a really good idea of how I DO want things to go.

And I picked up some Sollux shoes.  Apparently I will be cosplaying him much sooner than anticipated.

If any of you do troll cosplay, can you tell me what you use?  I have narrowed it down to Ben Nye, but I need to know exactly what to buy (grey, white, powder, sealer what?).  Price is not an issue because I don’t want to waste money on crap.

EDIT:  Ok, looks like Ben Nye is my ultimate answer.

Specifically: 1:1 ratio of Ben Nye creme colors, grey (CL-26) and white (CL-1); follow Hanyaan’s tutorial for mixing Troll Grey! This method also makes it a little slicker and very easy to apply, especially if you use primer/anti-chafing gel beforehand.

Then I use Steel Grey (CL-25) for contouring, more white for highlighting if necessary, Neutral Set colorless powder, and Final Seal after powdering down heavily. It’s also better to use cancerously’s troll-glove tutorial than to try to paint your arms and hands, but I haven’t gotten her method to work for me…yet. 

The most important thing you need is patience when applying the creme base. It takes a lot of time to get it flawless and matte.

Hooray! A picture of my Hastily Rendered Felt Handmaid. I made it the day of, and nearly baseball-slid into the picture because it was RIGHT when I got there. I’m still too angry about having to remake my beautiful costume in six hours to fully explain, but suffice it to say I have two cats and one of them apparently objected to the fabric paint.

GRRR.
